Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, issued the following statement on the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.
The doors at the Northwest Company Fur Post are likely staying wide open. Pine City’s historical site is on the chopping block due to proposed cuts to balance Minnesota’s $4.6 billion deficit. However, the cuts appear to be less than the originally expected 15-percent, according to Minnesota Historical Society Director Nina Archabal. She says even though cuts are inevitable, the Fur Post will likely remain open.

The Seven County Senior Federation based in Mora is not in jeopardy of dissolving, says Staff Director Tim Burkhardt. A story published in the Minneapolis Star Tribune on May 19th indicated that the Minnesota Senior Federation is considering dissolving on July 1st, which Burkhardt says is true, but no longer applies to the Mora Federation.
