MN Health Officials Respond to “Swine Flu” Threat

State and local public health officials are taking aggressive steps in response to the unusual strain of swine influenza that has been making people ill in Mexico and parts of the U.S.

Funeral Services Announced for Plane Crash Victim

Michael Schute, 48, of Grantsburg and formerly of Sandstone, was killed in a plane crash Wednesday afternoon south of Grantsburg. He was the pilot of the plane and was the only person inside when it crashed.

Eastlund: House Tax Bill Hurts Chisago County Project

The Minnesota Legislature is pushing to get all work done by the May 18th deadline. The House met on Saturday and approved a Omnibus Tax Bill, with a vote of 68-65. Representative Rob Eastlund of Isanti was one of 47 Republicans who voted against the bill. He says one of the reasons he can’t vote for it is because of a provision that creates obstacles for a new electrical project in Chisago County.

Luck, WI Man Sentenced for Cocaine Distribution

Manly Williams was sentenced Friday in U.S. District court. He sold approximately 18.5 grams of the drug to an undercover special agent from the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
