Governor and State Officials Respond to “Probable” Swine Flu

Saint Paul – A lab specimen from a Minnesota influenza patient has been submitted to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to be tested for the H1N1 novel influenza virus, also referred to as swine flu.

The individual is expected to make a full recovery and did not require hospitalization.

Dragons Improve to 8-1 Beating Bombers

The 2009 baseball season is setting up to be a special one for the Pine City Dragons. The Dragons blast the Braham Bombers 12-0 on the road, Tuesday, on a game heard on 1350 WCMP-AM. The win improves Pine City to 8-1.

How To Save the Fur Post

The Northwest Company Fur Post is in jeopardy of closing because of potential cuts to the Minnesota Historical Society. In an effort to balance a $ 4.6 billion deficit, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, the House and Senate are proposing cuts between seven and 15-percent to the Historical Society. This could ultimately mean closing three historic sites, including Pine City’s Northwest Company Fur Post.

Klobuchar Urges International Community to Continue Importing U.S. Pork amidst Influenza Outbreak

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar urged the international community to continue to import U.S. pork as the H1N1 influenza outbreak, also known as the “swine flu” continues. Klobuchar, a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, also stressed that humans cannot catch H1N1 influenza from eating pork.

Pine Tech Offers Info For Unemployed/Prospective Students

More and more people are looking for work outside of the careers where they have worked for years after getting laid off as a result of the struggling economy. Wednesday, Pine Technical College is hosting an information night for those who have lost their job and are considering going back to school and developing new skills.

Faust Appointed to Agriculture and Veterans Conference Committee

St. Paul, MN – Speaker of the House Margaret Anderson Keliher has appointed Representative Tim Faust to the Agriculture and Veterans Conference Committee. The committee will begin meeting this week to work out the differences between the House and Senate Agriculture and Veterans bills.
