Bill To Honor Service of Vietnam Vets Passes House

ST. PAUL, MN – Today the Minnesota House of Representatives voted unanimously to approve a bill (HF1400) establishing June 13, 2009 “Honoring All Vietnam Era Veterans Day” in Minnesota. The bill, proposed by State Rep. Jeremy Kalin (DFL – Chisago County) and Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie now awaits the signature of Governor Tim Pawlenty.

Minnesota Extends Unemployment Insurance Benefits

St. Paul – The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) announced that additional unemployment insurance (UI) benefits will be available to unemployed Minnesotans who have exhausted both regular UI and Federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) benefits.

On April 1, 2009, the “Making Work Pay” tax credit will go into effect, lowering the payroll tax withholding rates for 95 percent of working families.

Klobuchar Announces Help for Minnesota Dairy Farmers

The City of Pine City will flush hydrants beginning Thursday through Friday, April 3rd. The city recommends if crews are in your area of residence, do not wash a load of white clothes until you have done a load of dark clothes first.
