Staff with Congressman Jim Oberstar’s office plan on holding listening sessions in Pine City and Rush City this Friday. The purpose of the listening sessions is to provide help and information for those who have a lost Social Security check or need assistance with any other federal government program.

About 50 people attended the Assembly Fish and Wildlife Committee informational hearing in Spooner on Monday, March 30th. Representative Ann Hraychuck (D-Balsam Lake) chairs the committee. The hearing was held to get public input on the 2008 deer season and herd management practices.

St. Paul, MN & Eau Claire, WI – Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty and Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle today announced the first steps in a nation-leading effort to share services and become more efficient by cooperating between their states. Minnesota and Wisconsin will work together on more than 80 projects to save money and improve government operations.

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Twins announced today that the team’s final Opening Day in the Metrodome on Monday, April 6 (7:10 p.m.) versus the Seattle Mariners is sold out. As of today, only a limited number of single and obstructed view tickets remain for the Twins 49th annual Opening Day. This will be the team’s final home opener at the Metrodome as they move to Target Field in 2010.

Just over a month ago, a new domestic abuse shelter opened in Cambridge to serve women in East Central Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin. The Black Dog Hill Shelter is now up and running, and is currently serving five women and four children, but the shelter is still in need of supplies.
