24th Annual “Lifestyle Show” Draws Large Crowds, Vendors, WINNERS!

11The WCMP/WXCX Lifestlye Show wrapped up Saturday, and Ron Gardner of Pine City walked away with the big $500 cash prize. Minnesota Twins Pitching Coach Rick Anderson met with fans Friday and nearly 40 vendors passed out information and tons of prizes. Ruby’s Pantry in Pine City also gave away $14,000 worth of tomatoes, Saturday.

Pine City Takes Top Spot in One Act Play Fesitval

Pine City High School’s production of “All in the Timing” took first place
at Sub-Section One-Act Play Festival at Harding High School in St. Paul on
Saturday. This is the second year in a row the local student actors have
advanced to sections.

Dale Won’t Serve Time

[Audio] Marihart: Burglaries a “Really Bad Mistake”

marihartDerek Marihart, 19, is getting a second chance. The teenager from Pine City appeared in Pine County Court, Thursday, for sentencing related to a string of burglaries of area bars between August and October of 2008. Marihart was sentenced to five years probation for three counts of third degree burglary and one count of theft of a firearm.

Oberstar on Economic Recovery Bill

oberstarWashington DC – The U.S. House of Representatives approved an essential economic recovery bill that is expected to create or save over 91,000 jobs in Minnesota.. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (H.R. 1) is designed to invest in public infrastructure projects that will generate millions of jobs nationwide, and this legislation will also invest in numerous programs that will assist states, local governments and individuals who have been impacted by the recession.

Pine City One-Act Play Competition Moved to St. Paul

allintimingFor the past two months, the cast of Pine City High School’s One Act Play, “All in the Timing,” has been preparing for a grueling sub-section contest this Saturday in Foley. The students were excited to present their comedy against local rivals such as Mora, Rush City, and Hinckley-Finlayson in Sub-Section 4A North Festival, but on Wednesday, the Pine City thespians were reassigned to Sub-Section 4A South. The local students will perform at 2:45pm this Saturday at Harding High School in St. Paul.
