Burnett Co. Sheriff: School “Exceptional” Handling Threat

Burnett County Sheriff Dean Roland is praising the Grantsburg administration, students, and faculty for their handling of a bomb threat Friday, December 19th at the high school. Roland calls the schools handling of the situations quote “exceptional.” The school was evacuated Friday afternoon when administration heard of the threat.

Pine County Toys-For-Tots Serves 897 Children

The Pine County Toys-for-Tots campaign wrapped up another successful year; 4,205 toys were donated to the campaign which served roughly 303 families. That number is down from last year, but 897 children received presents which is 52 more than last year.

Old Pine County Courthouse on Display

The old Pine County Courthouse was on display, Monday. George Sutton, with Sutton and Associates, was invited by the Pine Center for the Arts to tour the building and share ideas and planning strategies. Sutton works as a cultural facilities developer. He manages feasibility studies, operational planning, conceptualizing.

Rush City Man Convicted of Attempted Arson

Paul James Irons, 42, was convicted by a jury of attempted arson of a dwelling in Chisago County District Court on Dec. 19, 2008. Irons was convicted of trying to burn down the home he rented in Rush City on Nov. 9, 2004.

Twins’ Redmond, Guerrier and Atteberry Coming to Pine City

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Twins today announced the schedule for the ball club’s 49th Annual Winter Caravan. This year’s Twins Winter Caravan features stops in more than 60 communities throughout the Upper Midwest between January 12 and January 29.

Washington, D.C. – As Minnesota homeless shelters fill up and the supplies of food banks dwindle, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar announced Friday that Minnesota will receive $3,170,902 for emergency food and shelter programs.
