Harsdorf Appointed to Senate Committee on Agriculture and Higher Education

(State Capitol, Madison). . . State Senator Sheila Harsdorf (R – River Falls) has been appointed to serve as the ranking Republican on the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Higher Education. Additionally, Harsdorf will serve on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Utilities, and Rail.

Drills Help Determine Ice Thickness

Several factors affect the relative safety of ice, like temperature, snow cover and currents. According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), a cordless, rechargeable electric drill is a new way to check ice conditions and the actual thickness.

[Update] Charges Filed in Brook Park Shooting

The three individuals accused of shooting a man, Saturday, in Brook Park appeared in Pine County Court Tuesday afternoon. Bond is set at $250,000 dollars for Connie Kitterman (Right) and $100,000 for both Danny Kitterman (Middle) and Jeffery Thauwald (Left).

All three are charged with four counts in the case:

Count 1: 1st Degree Assault

Count 2: 2nd Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon

Count 3: 2nd Degree Assault Causing Substantial Bodily Harm

Count 4: Third Degree Assault Causing Substantial Bodily Harm

Rush City Laundromat “Total Loss” After Fire

Rush City firefighters responded to a Monday afternoon fire at a laundromat on Elliot Avenue. The fire engulfed the building which is a total loss. Rush City Fire Chief Bob Carlson says Rush City, Pine City and Harris fire departments fought the blaze for nearly three hours. He says arson is not suspected in the fire. The cause and monetary damage is unknown, fortunately no one was hurt in the blaze.

Pine City-Rush City Holiday Hockey Tournament

The Pine City – Rush City Holiday Hockey Tournament kicked off with a bang, Monday, at the Pine City Civic Center. Minneapolis East dropped the host Pine City, 2-1 and Moose-Lake Area gets the best of North Branch in a high scoring affair, 8-4. Play resumes Tuesday. Minneapolis East v. Moose-Lake Area at 5 p.m. and North Branch v. Pine City-Rush City at 7:30 p.m.
