[Video] Box City: The Fight Against Homelessness

Over 150 people spent Friday night at the Isanti County Fairgrounds, in Cambridge, in cardboard boxes and tents. It was all part of the first “Box City” event to raise money and awareness for Homelessness in East Central Minnesota.

Harvey Lindstrom: “Citizen Planner” Award Winner

Pine City resident Harvey Lindstrom recently received the City’s second-ever “Citizen Planner” award at the second-annual planning open house last week. The open house, Oct. 22, was held in conjunction with the American Planning Association’s “National Planning Month”.

Loan to Bring High-Speed Internet to Central Minnesota

Washington DC – A federally-backed loan will help improve phone and Internet service in Central Minnesota. Today, Congressman Jim Oberstar announced that the U.S. Rural Development Administration (USRDA) has approved a loan of $22.2 million to the West Central Telephone Association.

Fourteen-percent of people living in Pine City are doing so in poverty. If the new Horizons program that kicked off, Thursday night, at Wings North in Pine City has anything to say about it, in 18 months that number will drastically improve. Area residents came to an open house to learn about the program that aims at fighting poverty in rural communities.

Live a Night in a Cardboard Box

Friday, in Cambridge, there will be over 100 people living in cardboard boxes. New Pathways is hosting a fundraising event at the Isanti County Fairgrounds. Area residents will spend the night in boxes to help raise money for families in the Cambridge Shelter.

Mora Vball Advances, Pine City and Rush City Done

The Mora Mustangs Volleyball team continues to impress. Thursday, in the first round of the playoffs, Mora dropped Rockford 3-0 and move on to play Tuesday. They will face Becker who topped Rush City 3-2. Pine City falls 3-0 to Foley.

The High School Football regular season officially came to an end in Wisconsin last night.
