A North Branch home suffered what the police department describes as “extensive” smoke and water damage after a fire Thursday night.
North Branch Police and Fire Departments responded to the fire at the home at 6337 377th Street.

The Isanti County News and Cambridge Star reports that Braham resident Allyn Raymond Hanson, 20, faces first degree attempted murder charges for injuries of his girlfriends 14-month-old son, Ryan. Hanson also faces a third degree attempted murder charge and first degree assault.

High School volleyball’s post-season takes center stage tonight on Red Rock Radio. The Grantsburg Pirates hope to stay undefeated when they take on Washburn at Cameron. You can hear the action beginning at 7 p.m. on 105.7 WXCX. The winner of tonight’s sectional semifinal advances to play Saturday in the sectional final at Osseo-Fairchild.

The Pine County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal accident Wednesday night on County Road 2 in Aitkin near the Pine County line. Arvid Simonson, 58, of McGrath was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Minnesota Department of Health’s Office of Rural Health and Primary Care announced, Wednesday, that they are awarding over $3.5-million dollars in grants to help Minnesota provide interoperable electronic health records. The Five County Mental Health Centers is receiving $280,000.
